Gestüt Schlenderhan

Where succcess is certain

Gestüt Schlenderhan was founded in 1869 and has been owned by the Oppenheim family ever since. This oldest private stud in Germany has always been one of the most important breeders of thoroughbreds in the country. The name comes from Maria von Schlenderhan; Baron Simon von Oppenheim bought Schloss Schlenderhan and its surrounding land from her estate. Schlenderhan enjoyed great success right from the start. In the meantime the black, blue and red colours of Gestüt Schlenderhan have been carried to success 18 times in the Deutsches Derby, including this year. Among the Schlenderhan winners of the Grosser Preis von Baden is the outstanding colt OLEANDER, who won three times, and together with ALBA, LOMBARD; ALPENKÖNIG; and the great filly SCHWARZGOLD belongs to the exceptional products of this stud. Gestüt Schlenderhan has been 33 times champion owner and 38 times leading breeder in Germany. A new chapter in the history of the stud came with the purchase of Disternich (near Düren) as a special centre for yearlings. The new training centre of the Ullmann family was opened at the end of 2006. The resident Schlenderhan stallion MONSUN is regarded as one of the best sires in Europe.
